Checkout the new “Text Effect Strip at the following link”:

This video will introduce the 3D viewport and Outliner editors. I will be creating text in the 3D viewport to create numerous subtitles. This method is great if you are rendering at a lower resolution (720P or lower), working with a shorter video (4 to 5 minutes), or don’t mind longer render times, because the render time can be longer than most people like when rendering the 3D scene with video in the sequencer.

  1. The green shirt Mikeycal sounds like a dumbass that doesn't know about using templates pictures to create text. I prefer the blue shirt Mikeycal: he's much smarter.

  2. Apparently when i select "I", and it gets keyframed, it happens only on camera perspective, why is that?

I want it to appear in video perspective so I can render my subtitles, any idea?

  3. Can you help me? After 12 minutes in this tutorial i selected something and my right side video screen returned to the state as if "Alpha over" stopped working. I tried everything, nothing happens, only see the lyrics,, no video behind, not even sound

  4. Hi Sir.I have a little complex task to execute using blender.I already have a video with subtitles in which every word is filled in as the speaker speaks.I want the last frame of every line of the completely filled subtitle to last for 2 seconds.I have edited the audio of the same to this effect. The problem I am facing is, when I stretch the very last frame of the video along with the edited audio, the subtitle filling is completely out of sync with the audio.I would be grateful to you if you could tell me how to solve this problem using blender.

  5. Hello again, I have a question about blinking or "flashing" video. If I were to want to integrate some text to say "Buy Today" or something (for sake of easy example) overlaying audio and video footage, what would you say is the easiest method to do this in, with the least amount of effort for workflow? I have a few ideas that will work, but for the moment I'd like your input on possible easier methods.

  6. I'm trying to do something with my floating text.

I have text alone against a black background. I've learned some time ago that with video a little bit of motion goes a long way. So I would like to gently zoom in for the duration of the video (10 seconds). Like not even a lot of zoom. Barely noticeable even. I figure I can do that with pushing the camera forward a smidge with key frames and Z position, but I don't know where to find that, or if it would even work as intended.

  7. I have a question. I wanted to use one instance of text in one place, and then a separate instance of text in another. The first instance of text has different settings than the second, so the shown method doesn't work start to finish (as far as I am aware). I have tried the simple method of just making a second text scene, but when I get to the part where I am meant to "add" the scene, I don't have the option to add the 2nd text element. I am sort of at a loss.

  8. Mikeycal, your work is precious. I'm setting up screencasts myself (about my audio studio work) I'm using Ubuntu too, and was wondering exactly what tool you use to record your activity in blender? I tried all solutions under the sun, ended up with a script that starts ffmpeg for the screen capture (the only way to get smooth cursor movements)) and jack_capture for the microphone sound, but no matter what I do, the audio and sound files always seem to be in a slightly different timeframes: When I sync sound at the start (of course I'm using Blender!) it ends up unsynced at the end..? Do you have a sane solution? And again, thank you very much for your Blender VSE tutorials!

  9. Hello, first of all I want to say that your tutorials are awesome!
But there is one thing I searched for but haven't found: How to implement a timer right in to the video with Blender (or any other free video editing software).
An answer is really appreciated 🙂
