Hi Mr. Hermes, newbie here! If I draw all sides of an object how can I use this technique to combine all the parts and create a complete 3D model of that object? Is your technique here the holy grail of fast and easy 3D modeling??
how do u make a plane as big as u want, because when I create a plane it appear a plane of 1×1, and I don't know how to create a plane with the dimensions I want
thanks
will this work with multicolored images as well or only 2-3 colors max?
That's what I needed. down to the point.

wow thank you sooo much

hello…how do you make the plane disapear?
Really good tutorial. Helped me a lot.
Doesnt work with maya 2015 :
Thank you for posting!
I'm having a pretty big problem though….
I make my flat surface and all, and I have it selected when I go to Texture to Geometry, and I select my file, a sword with a few repetitive curves in it. I have it saved as a 10 by 10 jpg white on black exported from illustrator. And when I apply the conversion, it does not post on my flat surface. Its initial view is only fully viewable from the front perspective, I try to do the hyper shade, and its working all screwy. Did you have any trouble shooting from this?
Thank you!
The shape I want it black instead of everything else meaning I can't extrude it. Is there a way to change the black polys to white(and what are they called), or a way to invert the colours when using texture to geometry?
The image must be in black and white?
thank you very helpful
You Show a realy good stuff ! 🙂
+Mike Hermes I did the same thing as you but when saved and came back another day it was glitched. Is deleting history a solution for that?

Great content. Thanks for sharing.
There's another way (or many). I use the import method and Bevel tool.
Playing around with the settings you'll get neat results.
Greetings from North Mexico.

Thank you Mike !! To celebrate Children's Day on October 12, you could model a wooden brinquendo? Thank you.
