  1. I'm new to Maya, however when I press "B" nothing happens. Are you using the extrude tool? I'm referring to the first step when it comes to creating the strawberry. Cause I have no clue how to not make it look like it's filled with polygons.

Really good tutorial so far but after first extrude to get the first phase of the "seed" or circles part of the strawberry i cant get the scale to obey and make the circles smaller it just makes them into sausages ahh im confused ive been using maya for 8 months or so but it wont scale the actual "edges" of the circle like in the video – shit i hope that makes some sense

    Thanks for the tutorial. I`m new to Maya and modelling in general and it is really helpful.

    I have encountered a problem though. When i try to model the "seeds" on the berry using extrusion, the shape of the brown part inside a face (the one that you extrude – it`s rounded in yours) has a diamond/square shape just like the face itself only smaller, when in your video its rounded nicely.

    Any idea on what i`m doing wrong? I`m using Maya 2014.

  4. Thank you for this. My first time using Maya and didn't really know what to model or how to learn. Now I have a beautiful strawberry lol seriously. This is a fantastic starter video for someone who is design and tech savvy, but has no idea how Maya works. A few little things that need to kind of be intuitive like settings, terms, shortcuts, tools and things but overall for me, it was A+. Look forward to watching all your vids.

  5. 5:04 when extrude, you didnt tell us to set smoothing angel to 5 or less instead u jump right on extrude, we all dont have the same setting as you. I am using maya 2015 keep faces together option is NOT available under edit mesh they relocated it under window>preferences>modeling—scroll dowm to polygon then turn faces together OFF there(Im sure there are other ways to turn it off, but i dont understand maya2015 devs are retards to get rid of this option under edit mesh…i mean wtf?).
    also u skipped many steps to adjust the size of the poke holes. my poke holes are way too big

  6. u missing at 1:37 what is the short key to squeeze just section of the ball? I tried ctrl and it scale the whole thing. what is the short cut to select the whole edge around? if you dont show shortcut key i cant follow along. so fucking frustrated

  7. at around 4:50 after extruding, how did you resize the size of the seeds? I have my faces selected and I'm trying to scale it, but it's just scaling the compression and extrusion rather than the size of the face. Great tutorial by the way! Very helpful!

  8. Hi, I'm working with Maya 2014. I can't make a quick selection set and name it as you've shown in the video. Neither can I find Edit > Quick Select Sets. Can you tell me how to solve this or where I can find it?

  9. Thanks for the answer!  Sorry I am asking too much questions, but can you please answer the two last questions, just please? 

    1. How do you select certain edges without selecting nearby edges by mistake?  I tried selecting the edges like you did in 2:20 to 2:39?  I want to do the same to my strawberry I am experimenting with in Maya 2013.

    2. How did you make the strawberry leaves?  I understand how you make the thing out of a cylinder, but where did you get the texture of leaves from?  Is it an image I can import to Maya or something?

    I am again very sorry for asking so many questions, and it helps so much because I am so new to Maya.. only my second day working on it… thanks so much for your efforts!

I figured out how to move the scene, but can you please help me with one thing?  I tried pressing b to soft select, but when I selected the faces and pressed b, I tried altering the bottom of the sphere but it instead moved around the whole sphere, not what I want!   Can you please help me? Thanks
