In this tutorial we go over all the basics of Adobe Illustrator. If you’ve never used Illustrator or any vector program this is a great place to start. We begin with a sketch and take it all the way to a finished vector drawing. As a bonus we also jump into Photoshop to add some extra effects.

Illustrator. ๐ฅ๐ฅ
I would like to see converting a raster image to vector image by using different graphic designing software free and paid. Given the fact that are several softwares claiming they can convert raster image into vector… It would be helpful to see which software does the job better…
Actually this was pretty close to what I used to do when I was learning how to do stuff on Ai years ago! I relied a lot on Ps for colouring/highlights/shadows when I had no idea how to do that type of stuff on Ai. Also, the bezier tool (aka your friend, the pen tool) explanation was spot on (so many flashbacks from FreeHand went through my head lol). I think you did an excellent job with the basics here! In Ai there are many ways to reach a result, and what you have here are the good old basics that everybody should now. The only thing I would add, and to avoid hair pulling and suffering, is to Place instead of copying and pasting. When Illustrator 10 was around, there was this error called "memory leak" which pretty much killed the app and all progress was lost. Ai is a very demanding software, so anything to reduce resources impact will help in the long run. From experience, I noticed that Placing a file keeps the software more efficient and less demanding than when you just paste something on the artboard (also, if Ai crashes, your placed file will still be there). Also, thanks for the Esc advice… I always press Ctrl+Shift+A to deselect and that's a bit annoying ๐คฃ
how to hit escape?
Dat overlay came in clutch
Thanks so much for this video. I'm using affinity software, but this video was just generally great for helping me better understand the vector art workflow.

After using the lasso to cut out the picture whats the next step?
I was wondering how much will it cost to make a logo design
@Brad when using the pen tool, you do not have to reach for Esc. I know my hand is typically already near Both Ctrl and Alt. Clicking with either of these, changes the tool and releases the pen tool from creating more points. And you are set to continue making a new path. For tablet users, the same applies from the keyboard and if you program Ctrl or Alt into your stylus buttons. Just hold the programmed pen button and tap for a new point, but no point will be made and the path will be released.
can you take your finished work from illustrator to another software.
love it thank you.
Oh my god, Iโve never thought about using Photoshop for EFFECTS, let alone about using overlay EVER. Thanks mate, this is actually quite interesting, Iโm gonna try this out. Also, love the drawing you did, nice work!
What gear do you use
I was in a good luck meeting this guy's videos. Did he have any course in skill share?

Have Good Day
I love your video, very helpful. one quick question, the shadows and hightlights you added in Photoshop, how do you vectorize them for print, like the Image Trace feature in Illustrator? I am trying to do this with some Photoshop brush strokes but they get an added halo surrounding them after Image Tracing.
ohhh my goshh. great :))
Amazing. Thanks for sharing this tutorial. โค
God, that was so much helpful! Thank you!
Question, if you happen to see this:
Let's say I scanned an outlined drawing, can I extract it and color inside it with just the bucket tool? Kinda like a coloring book, if that makes sense?
Awesome video, can't wait until the day that I can draw like you!
Top notch tutorial, great job dude
Yeeeez…. THis was sooooooo Helpfulllllll ! … Thanks a million !
Nice NFT man!
Awesome video, thanks for making something / many things so clear and understandable!!
Hi Brad, could you do an updated review on Art Studio pro and compare it to the current Procreate
I use a mouse a lot in illustrator if you press alt and scroll on your mouse it zooms in and out. ๐
When I saw the thumbnail I thought there is no way I can make something like that but I followed along with the video and made my very first character and it came out good. Thank you for the detailed yet simple great tutorial…..
I was taught Illustrator about 20 years ago in college and NEVER knew about the ESCAPE button to stop making lines with the pen tool. You've changed my life!! Better late than never, thank you for that tip! BTW, I did notice Illustrator now has the Curvature tool, which I think is a huge cheat for those who have been struggling with creating those perfect curves using the regular pen tool–do you find yourself using that new tool?
i really got alot of help from your tutorial and thank you! i think your drawings are really good
WISH IT was on Android Tablet
Better tip for coloring โฆ duplicate the stroke layers and mix them in 1 layer, use the bucket fill button to color in 1 click, then remove the strokes, then drop the colors layer behind the original strokes
Exactly what I've been looking for! Thank you!
bro pls help how can I get your colour pallet???
even though I think you are 30 and over but I think you are still handsome, I'm not lying I'm very honest and also for the first time I praise someone ๐
