Great video! Why can't i do this process ( as in coloring in something using the replacement tool) on a new layer? Does it always have to be in the background layer?

I would use more masks and layers, but I like the History brush.
Gray shades??— Color Picker from Black/White mode? bluish Foreground Color before painting ?>Click New Layer icon in Layers Panel [or Use Layers>New>Layer you created ]> Then Paint with History Brush Tool over the cardinal and surrounding area>Use the Opacity slider for that layer. Help any??

When open and clicking new, you must change "color mode?" (I'm using czech so I don't know how it is writed there) to Color RGB. If you still don't know, reply and I will make pic. -Zed
Im having the same issues as the others. When i use the tool as in the vid to replace the color, it just drapes a faint layer of color onto the original. Sometimes, it might change the color but most of the time, it just overlays the new color onto the original one creating shades of grey or at least that's what I think is happening. What am i doing wrong??
