Advanced Async and Concurrency Patterns in JavaScript

Kyle Simpson, better known as Getify, speaks about Advanced Async and Concurrency Patterns in JavaScript at the JS.LA meetup.

  1. This guy's tutorials on JS made me buy a Pluralsight subscription! I do wish he would take better care of himself, he's actively struggling to breath during this presentation and the subtle gasping for air sounds are rather distracting. Hopefully something "clicks" in his mind and he starts practising healthier habits and lives longer so we can all learn from his future contributions to JS!

  2. Shut up fat white knight and get to the point. We are here to hear about JS not your bla bla crying bitching about life. Maybe that's the way you get women to speak to you which is pathetic for every male. Rather go lose a 200 pounds and grow some balls if you want to get laid

  3. That privilege part was disgusting to me. You don't have to make excuses as to why you are where you are. Life is unfair – deal with it. It is your job as a parent to work your ass off to make sure your kids have an advantage over other kids so it is natural for some people to have it better than others but it is a DAMN LIE that the tech community is 'not inclusive' as you suggested. America is the most inclusive society in the world. There is nothing and no one preventing girls from getting into code. They just don't like code.
I'm black, I had it rough growing up but I didn't complain or expect shit from anyone and I made it out intact. People need to spend more time working to fix their problems and stop whining. There are no handouts out here. If you work hard for what you want and you'l get it.
Sorry for the rant. I came here for async not politics.

  4. Did Kyle just go full on social justice warrior mode? 🙁 Did you hear the crowd cheer after he made his inclusion statement? That's exactly how most people feel and have felt. Think about it. Have any of you took a step back and thought about how you restricted anyone from becoming what they love or what they desire? No, you haven't. These are all myths created by political rhetoric by the dems an liberals.. Women do not get paid less, they work less hours and take lower paying jobs by choice. These are statistics. I have been a hiring manager before and I have never once based a hiring decision on race or gender or sexual preferences. We all have our own challenges and unless you were born into a rich family, then race, gender and sexual preferences barely scratch the surface of discrimination. White privilege is a myth.. even better an excuse.. BTW, I'm a black male.

  5. It's easier to reason about regular callbacks than all this shit he's talking about. The "next level" is to dump this overly confusing nonsense and learn Elixir or some new language that moves away from the mistakes of JS. Kyle's teaching style has become like the "Bridge to total freedom" in Scientology. "What I really want to talk about is the next next next next level….!"
