Using an array of small architectural lights (normally used to replaced the tungsten lights in lamps), I made a strip light with an extremely short flash duration.

  1. you can probably get 6 cheap slave speed lights (3 across the top, 3 across the bottom)for about $27 each on amazon, secure them on the bar with tape and they will trigger when they sense an outside flash. There will be a LOT of light , but a high shutter speed will compensate for that and also really freeze the action. the whole setup is less than $200. I saw someone shoot a truck in a large garage this way.

  2. Nice. Is there any chance you can explain really quickly how you rigged them up? How are you triggering them and synching that to the camera? It's a great idea and I'm always looking for cheap(er) DIY alternatives (I am in Scotland after all…)
