Animation in Blender For Absolute Beginners

In this Blender beginner tutorial, we will first explore the Timeline. The Timeline is where you define the range of your animation and mange your keyframes.

Then I will show you how to create keyframes to add animation to the 3D objects in your scene.
We will cover how to create and delete keyframes, how to place markers and how to limit animation to specific properties of your objects.

Finally we will look at the Dope Sheet in Blender. The Dope Sheet gives you detailed control over all the keyframes in your 3D scene. You can use it to speed up or slow down animation, duplicate sections and fully customise the animations in your 3D scene.

  1. ogm, I can't find how to move the indicator in time line. he seems using the mouse button but in my blender I have to use Alt+scroll. Could anyone tell me how to change it?

  2. one of the bad parts about blender is that it won't toggle you autosaving. Especially with new 2.80 beta it keeps crashing plenty of times, so even animating can be rather taxing when you lose your changes in possibly new objects.

  3. I like your sense of humor (your little comedy sketches with animation) and the way you explain things. Though I'm here mostly because of Blender. I tried to conquer Adobe After Effects and couldn't make myself love it 🙁 My question is if I absolutely master Blender, can I do all the effects I might need for movies and commercials in Blender instead of Adobe After Effects? Is Adobe After Effects 100% replaceable with Blender in your opinion?

  4. Can you move forward keyframes to give more time in where I would want to add in animation when I add the skeleton? replacing each frame? I would think moving them down would be possible. Maybe is there I can multiple delete?

  5. Please talk about how you camera track still footage. But not to nag u too much i will also try it myself. I've never successfully tracked something. It looks so fun. I thot still would be harder cos nothing moves. If not, then wouldnt it be too easy? But i cant wait to put dinosaurs in my housemate's rooms or aliens, or suzan monkey head errrrm

  6. Such a big help, thank you! The beginning was cool too! Cube gets no respect, haha!
Could you do a tutorial on how to animate the cube like at the beginning, flipping on its edge and in a circular path back to where it started? I keep trying and it just isn't working. Seems much more involved.
