Here’s a list of useful shortcuts used in maya.

W- move
E- rotate
R- scale
G- repeat last command
Ctrl + g – group
q – exit tool
b- soft selection
shift + . – grow selection
alt + b – change background color
f – fit to selection
ctrl + a – open attribute editor/channel box
ctrl + delete – deletes an edge loop( 2014 version and up only)
1 – standard mode
2- subdivision mode with cage
3- subdivision mode
4- wireframe
5 – shaded mode
6- texture mode
p- parent

  1. Okay, i'm having a really hard time to find mia_material and on top of that Indirect lightning? I'm using maya 2016 and everything is upside down, i've been sitting here for hours wondering how to solve this? Help please

  2. Damn, looks like maya 2015 doesnt have "mia_material" to select… ill try "mia_material x"
    Perhaps its called something different tho i would doubt it and autodesk may have took it out of the assign material editor

  3. Hi there, I don't suppose you know why it is that when I attempt to use the mia_material presets none are listed, I just have 2 options 'edit mia_material presets' and 'save mia_material presets' as opposed to all the actual presets listed below.

    On the 2015 Maya trial.

  4. Okay, so I have an issue where I'm ready to assign the new material "mia_material" but I can only find "mia_material_x". I have checked the settings in the "Window>Settings/Preferences>Plug-in Manager" to make sure that I didn't disable anything. In fact the only thing that I did change was that I added the OpenCollada maya extension with an FBX Python SDK, because I previously (after the changes) had been able to follow your videos to the letter without any problems. Thoughts? 

  5. was there a particular reason you made the light colors blue and yellow?   and also thank you for helping me finish my first youtube model :3  i think il be moving on to the treasure chest now

  6. i have a problem with the maya. So i saved my model with the texture but after i closed the program i cant open it. Its more like when i start the file it asked me the same questions when i'm trying to close it can any1 have the same problem ?
