This video shows a timelapse video on how to model a stylized Shield model. Autodesk maya was used to model, Zbrush to sculpt, and Substance Painter for texturing. It took about 30 minutes to make.

shift + . – grow selection
alt + b – change background color

ctrl + delete – deletes an edge loop( 2014 version and up only)
1 – standard mode

Hey Man, I'm a Blender User and I just wanted to mention that you Sir are probably the Best Autodesk Maya Designer I Have Ever seen and I also recommend you do explanatory Videos to do the Models. thank you Anyway
Really nice workflow.
The top 2 tips I took from this are the way you can combine the mesh and auto generate the poly-groups from them (saved me so much time) and the way that when you first subdivide when in Zbrush you turn of Smt-divide and then back on for nice beveled edges.

I think as I learn blender, I'm just going to still watch these videos to learn some of your process in making 3D models, its very interesting to watch how you do it, I see the end result and think how I'd try to, yet you make it look so simple hah
Did you make the UV map in Maya, or after you processed it in Zbrush? Also, I'm curious how you managed to get the Zbrush detailing to project onto the low poly mesh?
how do you get your orb_cracks brush strokes to taper so finely?
In maya is unwrap automatical? or you skipt this process ?

I really can't understand, is it painting or sculpting? You get low poly model. If you sculpt it must be high poly right? Because its just a straight faces..

What exactly do you do between 1:00 and 1:13 to separate the base of the shield with the border? It looked like you just cut and pasted the middle part, but I'm not sure, help please 🙂
Great work, when you open the model on substance, is it high poly or low..? Can you move it to maya and render it for sample?

Thank you for sharing. I faced one issue when I added Emissive channel in Substance. The model texture changed to default grayscale.
