Luminar AI announced a brand new feature called Bokeh AI, which is supposed to add a shallow depth-of-field effect automatically using artificial intelligence. However, a couple months ago Photoshop released a similar AI feature called Depth Blur as a part of its Neural Filters catalog.
In this video, we will compare both these features and discuss the pros and cons of each one of them. We will compare which one gives you a better background blur and in which situations. I hope you enjoy this video, thank you so much for watching 🙂

Adobe need some milk
In cases like these an auto-mask (edge-aware) brush would be so useful. But Skylum simply won't provide that. It would come in so handy for us seniors whose hands are not so steady any more.
For what Adobe charge, this is so bad.
Sample image please
Excellent video
Hello?
What do we need to learn everything about Vector Tracing? Do u give all videos about it on this channel or we need to buy courses online too? I need to learn everything A to Z about vector tracing. Plz guide me if your videos r enough and which one I need to watch OR I need to buy online courses?
Kind Regards
This man is not just helping us to get better at using Photoshop but also helping them to make their software better for free.
Don't you make videos on mobile editing?
Looks like it's time to pull the trigger on Luminar AI.. we nicely pay money to Adobe, they've been working on their beta for a year or so..Development seems very slow..
Can you make a video on how to convert a normal portrait into colourgel
Adobe is really scared about piracy…. I think this is the only reason for all new filters functionality are on cloud.
Amazing video sir and could you please let us know which hair wax u use please 😁❤️
08:33 For me personally something "works" when it is REALLY working and clearly it does not.
When it would the photos would be usable, but they arent. Noone would publish a photo looking like this online, in a paper etc.
As much as I loved photoshop bak in the days as much I m happy to move forward without them seeing that other companies are as good/close/or better.
I m confident that luminar will be able to work on objects as well soon.
Anyways keep up the good work!
phoshop 2021 release… but i still using ps cs6. my laptop lag when use ps 2020+ 😢
Hi Unmesh, was able to fool luminar in creating depth effect for animals with below steps
create a background only layer by subtracting subject -> convert to smart object -> apply luminar ai filter (luminar ai installed as plugin) -> apply portrait AI when luminar AI launches in plugin mode -> apply
now your background layer has depth effect
Hey sir love to watch your tutorial and your explanation and method is so good but one thing displacement map on Photoshop have seen so many tutorial but still not get that how to use they are not telling what and how to use it as you explain and the purpose for using please make a tutorial for this
Filter> distort> displacement map
I'm Amna from Pakistan ❤️
I was surprised by how many steps were there in photoshop mask adjustment for blurring. Might as well do it myself manually. But still Luminar is good at what it does but photoshop is photoshop I guess
love ur hair dude
IF people are serious about their photography, they'll nail the bokeh WHILE they're taking the photo. Most stuff done in post will never match actually doing it in camera at that moment.
For BG blur we can do it using the Topaz filters, thats way good than these.
But u can blur non living objects reducing structure strength un luminar.. different technique though.. it has sm gud nd bad
without selling both the kidneys :'D
I won't use software that sends my images to a cloud. So +1 for Luminar, regardless the quality.
Every photographer will tell you Luminar is vastly superior.
5:27 missing hand
luminar ai is way better than photoshop.
Hi unmesh I am unable to use pexels as a plugin anymore. Any other alternative plugin available (of course a free one)
Hey unmesh! Can you please make a easy photoshop tutorial on coverting an image into WPAP art style, like the tutorial of vectoring an image
@piximperfect Can u tell some ai bokeh apps for android? Which will be helpful to millions of people 🤔 who doesn't have a pc at home
Hi there!
Love your videos…
But just watch another video before about this feature, and on Photoshop you can select the output as "Duplicate Layer Masked" and work it out, select the subject better, add noise…
Saw it on PHLEARN channel.
Luminar AI, no subscription.
Photoshop CC, subscription and your soul.
So basically this is all crappy gimmicks for now that don't work and maybe like 10-15 years from now they will actually have a working product. Check.
I got an ad for luminar ai lol
love the humour in this video, Luminar wins for me tbh
Well even if you have luminar as a compliment it would still be cheaper than say the canon 50 1.2. IF the software gets that good
7:20 I felt that
if you want to have a bokeh effect, it's good to do manually rather than do the app for you <3
that cloud crap is a complete game breaker for me
Adobe Photoshop might be king of retouching software, but they should be ashamed releasing features like this that produce such terrible results.
I think Photoshop also have offline installers for newer versions
Hi Unmesh, what watch are you wearing in this video? It is quite beautiful.
