Luminar AI announced a brand new feature called Bokeh AI, which is supposed to add a shallow depth-of-field effect automatically using artificial intelligence. However, a couple months ago Photoshop released a similar AI feature called Depth Blur as a part of its Neural Filters catalog.

In this video, we will compare both these features and discuss the pros and cons of each one of them. We will compare which one gives you a better background blur and in which situations. I hope you enjoy this video, thank you so much for watching 🙂

  1. In cases like these an auto-mask (edge-aware) brush would be so useful. But Skylum simply won't provide that. It would come in so handy for us seniors whose hands are not so steady any more.

  2. Hello?
What do we need to learn everything about Vector Tracing? Do u give all videos about it on this channel or we need to buy courses online too? I need to learn everything A to Z about vector tracing. Plz guide me if your videos r enough and which one I need to watch OR I need to buy online courses?
    Kind Regards

  3. Looks like it's time to pull the trigger on Luminar AI.. we nicely pay money to Adobe, they've been working on their beta for a year or so..Development seems very slow..

  4. 08:33 For me personally something "works" when it is REALLY working and clearly it does not.
When it would the photos would be usable, but they arent. Noone would publish a photo looking like this online, in a paper etc.

As much as I loved photoshop bak in the days as much I m happy to move forward without them seeing that other companies are as good/close/or better.

I m confident that luminar will be able to work on objects as well soon.

Anyways keep up the good work!

  5. Hi Unmesh, was able to fool luminar in creating depth effect for animals with below steps
create a background only layer by subtracting subject -> convert to smart object -> apply luminar ai filter (luminar ai installed as plugin) -> apply portrait AI when luminar AI launches in plugin mode -> apply
now your background layer has depth effect

  6. Hey sir love to watch your tutorial and your explanation and method is so good but one thing displacement map on Photoshop have seen so many tutorial but still not get that how to use they are not telling what and how to use it as you explain and the purpose for using please make a tutorial for this
    Filter> distort> displacement map
    I'm Amna from Pakistan ❤️

  7. IF people are serious about their photography, they'll nail the bokeh WHILE they're taking the photo. Most stuff done in post will never match actually doing it in camera at that moment.

  8. Hi there!
    Love your videos…
But just watch another video before about this feature, and on Photoshop you can select the output as "Duplicate Layer Masked" and work it out, select the subject better, add noise…
    Saw it on PHLEARN channel.
