Between Past and Future – 3D Animation Demo with maya

This is our first 3D Animation made with Maya 8.0, rendered with maya Software. Inspired from Final fantasy games and animes. This video was made for the University in Friedberg in Germany… It used to be a Trailer for an imaginary RPG for nextgen consoles. It´s not an awesome video, but next time we will try to make BETTER than this one.

  1. does anyone know of a fairly effective program that can put an image format onto youtube without it looking grainy or shot with a cell phone camera?
camera.I have clip samples on my page to show

  2. Not bad for a first animation. Not at all. Most results for a first atempt are worse. I never ever touched character animation up until today. I always was into effects. But after starting with character modeling it seems I'll have to try animating myself. Oh gosh.

  3. at the very beginning where it showed the river and everything with the guy sitting by the tree, that was very good but with the close-up and the other things. Urk–, i'm just going to say it wasn't half-bad.

  4. that is too much "bling bling" for a stupid sword in a tree trunk dude. The grass is cool the character sux big time. Character animation also. Water looks fine but you have a problem at 0:26 when the camera stops instantly.

  5. I have to say: the character looks like a caveman.

    Here are the good points:
    -Nice water. Raytraced?
    -Nice terrain.
    -Grass is well placed.
    -Well textured terrain.
    -Excellent choice for the music.
And here are the bad points:
-Adding shadows to the scene would be a nice one.
-The eye of the guy looks a mirror. This isn't good. Reflect only part of the light and it'll be fine.
    -Hair a little square.
    -Better rigging please.

    Conclusion:
More effort and you'll do a way better job.

  6. If you get the lighting right it will make it all look alot better. There are no shadows and the light doesnt seem to be coming from any angle. If you sort out the lighting it will look a whole lot better.
