In this Tutorial #35 I cover:

-After connecting an armature (bones) to a character mesh, the best way to make sure the bones properly control the correct parts of the mesh is by using weight paint mode.
-In this video I’ll show you how to use weight paint mode to paint ‘weights’ (the amount of influence each bone has on each vertex) easily and quickly. I also cover how to *mask* parts of your mesh (in this case each block of the Minecraft person) to make it easier to paint only the sections you want.
