Let’s UV map a character. In this video we begin by UV mapping the head. I go over using Pinning and Live Unwrap, as well as the Proportional Editing tool.

  1. You are awesome.. UV mapping has been for me one of the most complex things to understand in 3D… there is none other except Cycles Material nodes and Texture Baking…

But you made that simple to understand and utilize it to full performance…
    Million Thanks Bro…

  2. Hi. you didn t tweak the projection mode? (few years ago I saw a demostration of SOFTIMAGE XSI, and the cg artist was using various set of projection each one oriented to match optimizly the topolgia. Does this kinf of process can be appply with bledner ?

  3. Hi Darrin! Thanks so much for your video tutorial!

When I am pinning my vertices and trying to move them around (using the "G" key), sometimes the pinned vertex itself will move but the rest of the mesh will not. This seems to happen sporadically, as sometimes the mesh does move/scale with the pin, but sometimes it does not. Do you know why this could be?

  4. Man, I love Blender, but it is SO hard in the learning curve dept. Just knowing that you NEED TO KNOW something is the thing. THEN how in the world to do it. I've spent a week simply trying to figure out how to use the proportional editing tool to curve the inside bottom of a glass and STILL don't have it! LOL I saw it here again and can't figure out in which order, and which buttons to press in the right combo to accomplish this. ANY help is appreciated in this dept. Although, I'm at least seeing what Blender can do with these vids to help answer some of the "need to know, to know, to do." stated above. Thanks for another GREAT VID!
