When animating a bending arm,the mesh deformation around the elbow doesn’t look, most of the times, realistic enough
In this video tutorial we present a workaround through using “vertex shape keys” (also called “corrective shape keys” ) for re-shaping the bent arm and ,therefore, giving it a nice, realistic deformation

what is that screeching sound
thanks mr dragonov, you've done well.
STILL ROCKIN in 2018 thank you for taking the time years ago!
Thanks ms dracula
thanks
Hello! You wrote the expression var automatically and I do not get an error. It is important? If so, how to fix it?
Шикарный урок!! Прям то что надо!!! Спасибо!
If you're having problems with an armature's deformation, corrective shape keys only hide the actual problem. What that problem is happens to be that the model's skinning happens to be set incorrectly. The trick to proper skinning is to make sure that the weights of the vertices are set in such a way, moving the bone causes the model to deforms correctly.
This isn't impossible, I might add; models within professional fames typically don't use corrective shape keys, instead, relying on proper skinning in its place. As an example, look at the Pikachu model from Pokémon X and Y, and you'll notice that thought was put into the weights of their skin. They never even go 100%, save for the weights of the bones meant to animate entire body parts.
Can these corrective shape keys be transferred into UE4? And if so, are the settings any different aside from morph targets being checked on import?
can we add Inverse Kinematics to this later?
what button do you press to change the size of the proportional editing
When you build a complex chain with an FK/IK switch you may consider building a secondary rig that will be used to follow these mechanism bone and then set a copy transform from this chain to your deformation born.
When a bone have a copy transform modifier, it records any transformation it is being submited to as a local tranformation hence you can source it for your drivers to work.
I love his Dracula voice
Thanks for the video man. 2 years of using blender for stuff and I'm still learning new stuff. You've been a big help Peter.
doesn't work for me helphelphelp
I've been trying this for three years and it still doesn't work
help help help

thanks Peter !
Sculpting does affect my base shape key. How is it possible?
exactly what i needed! 🙂
Wow, really awesome tutorial. I had always these problems with limbs and this technique is pretty useful.
But where is that background noise coming from? Sound like a water heater or something…
Thanks Peter! Great Tutorial!
This is awesome. Explains more than a different one I watched!
Thanks!
Nice tutorial… Do you know how to put a limit on bones (the limit of bending the arm in both directions).. To prevent turning the arm in appositive directions? I have found that in lightwave 3D
does this work on IK controlled bones, it appears that those bones dont register rotation..
Great! Details, understable, fine. And you must be blender enthusiast because it is good to hear voice.
What a needed tutorial!! Thanks a million, Peter!!
Simple, ready, well explained! Thank you for investing your time to do this! Is much appreciated!
Dude, that EXACTLY what I needed! freaking simple and perfect! Thanks (just.. your mic stress me out lol but it's ok :p )
Exactly!!!thanks
why my arms wont show on camera>
Really helpful tutorial!! Thanks a ton!
^_^ Hello Peter Drakulic How is your day.
От чего может быть, что нет плавного перехода от одного ключа к другому, а он резко вдруг срабатывает при преодолении определенной границы? И еще момент, кисть в расправленном состоянии сразу с деформированным бицепсом.
Maya can suck ballz on this one 😀
In the part where you select averaged value, why when I play around with those settings the value changes to 0 and it stops working? Even if I change it back to averaged value it stays at 0. I have to delete the driver and redo everything.
Great tutorial!
really good thankyou 🙂
WOW! After using blender for 10 years I actually learned something new…Thanks!
could be very useful Peter, love your style!
