  1. Hi Andrew ..just a quick question ..is smoke by any chance supported in blender game mode …I put this question in the blender web site and they said no it is not supported ..just wanted to make sure so I can move on to another engine .thanx

  2. OK, I just found this by changing some of the values.
At Coordinates change to Generated, for the both textures.
For the first Texture Check Density and Emmision in the Influence settings pannel.
Now, for the color texture to show when you render try this.
    1. At the Infulence setings check Density, Emmision, Emmision Color and Reflection for out-scatter light.
    2. The Blend let it be on Mix not on Multiply

    Hope it works for you!

  3. EDIT – Disregard, I just realized im in cycles. Going to check out the cycles tut.

    15:08 [surface, wire, volumen, halo,]
    … I dont have those buttons in 2.78. 🙁
Anyone know where they may have been moved /renamed to?

  4. Sadly can't follow this all the way in 2.78a. 🙁 I get to the texture details of the box domain, and smoke details and most things are either different or missing. I can get the particles to emit, but I'll be darned if I can get them to look a certain way.

  5. Using Blender 2.78a and I've watched this video again and again over three days. I can get to fire to look great in solid mode but in (Blender) render mode all I see is a little wisp of smoke. In Cycles render the domain becomes a solid box. Very frustrated. I've followed every step of this as best I can with the newer version but I'm still not getting the same results. REALLY, REALLY hope to see an updated version of this excellent tutorial soon. Thanks very much.

  6. Dear Blender Guru,
I am using Blender 2.78 and seem to be having a problem with the render (F12). All I see is black and white. I have followed the instructions from this tutorial three times. A major difference in this version is that Flames and Smoke are an option – very nice. All that displays nicely in Solid Mode but when I preview the render all I see is black and white. In fact the same is true for all on my projects. Is there some setting I need to adjust?

  7. Your clear instruction and casual manner make learning blender much more enjoyable. I have always preferred written instruction for learning new things, but your method of teaching has changed my outlook, great work, and a big thank you from NYC

  8. spent 12 hours on it, can't get it to render.. tried everything… Cycles or Blender.  Even though this is an older tutorial it should still work.  I don't care for quick smoke..  I'm trying to make a swirling ball of plasma.  Can anyone link me to any suggestions?
