A quick tutorial showing and explaining the different aspects of the fluid simulator in Blender 2.7.

Intro : 0:00
Setting Up : 0:24
Inflow : 1:40
Collision Objects (Obstacle) : 2:19
Outflow : 2:48
Resolution : 3:17
Time : 3:55
Fluid World : 4:30
Fluid Boundary : 4:54
Fluid Particles : 5:22
Wrap up : 5:50

Below is a link describing how the “Control” type works in the fluid simulation. It’s a fun effect, but can be a bit difficult to manage in comparison to the other aspects of fluid simulation.

Polosson gave a good description of how the Time function works, as well.

  1. How would you go about making a fluid simulation like a volcano? where the fluid comes out of the obstacle that it needs to slide down? Ive seen a couple volcano tutorials but none of them go into detail on how to simulate this. Thank you
