This is the second part of the tutorial for modeling an animated door with Blender, in this one I will model the keyhole plate.

  1. May I suggest something that makes it much easier and faster to make the keyhole? Instead of all this inserting of a circle in Object mode, merging the two objects together, moving the circle's vertices so that they line up with the outer frame etc. etc.:

    1. After deleting the hole from the duplicated object in the beginning, select the outer edge loop of the hole, press "F" to fill it.
    2. The new face is now selected, press "I" for inset faces. This way you can create an inner ring the same size like your extra added circle object.
    3. Select the upper vertices of the inner ring and move them up, select the lower vertices and move them down – just like you did with your circle, maybe adjust the two centered vertices as well.
    4. Then grab the inner face, extrude it along normal (as Blender is doing by default) and delete it.
    5. Bevel the edge of the keyhole.

This is easier, faster, avoids some of the "trial and error" selections you make and even results in a cleaner mesh.
