In this Blender tutorial about shape keys I show you by a simple example on how to use this feature.
I start with a simple cube and turn it into a tree using shape keys.

If you have the value at half way, is there a way to take the shape key off and the object stay at the halfway point? The reason that I am asking is because I did this, and I want to joint multiple objects but when I do they all revert back to the way they were at 0 value.
I’ve been trying to export a keyframe animation to UE4 using a bone driver for a shape key, and I can’t get the animation to export successfully no matter what I do. It’s as though the driver modification to the shape key had no effect once I import into UE4. I believe I have tried 50 combinations of options selected. I’d like to import an animation from Blender rather than morphing using UE4 if I can, any tips would be appreciated!
Very nice, thanks. I just started Shape Keys and this is a perfect introduction.
I noticed you added am edge loop in edit mode. Is that ok to do?
Very good tutorial and he demonstration is simple and very creative
Hey, thank you for the tutorial! I was wondering if you can add bones to your second shape key ?
I almost didn't bother with this tutorial as it's so short, but glad I did. Very good introduction to the topic with clear results. Thank you 🙂
Thanks for your time. 🙂
This saved my final projects! Thank you so much for posting this! Looooooove!
Is it possible to tie this into the location/rotation of an empty for, say, changing the shape of tank treads on the fly (a la Wall-e)?
Hey! Love your uploads. Can you help me with an animation which has multiple .obj meshes, of the same fluid sequence at increasing time intervals. which I have imported from a different simulator. I am having a hard time to figure out the best way to make a sequential animation which i can use in Unreal Engine 4. I dabbled with shape keys and some other scripts but it didn't work out. I will really appreciate any help. i'm very new to blender. Thankyou!
Im so glad this was the first tutorial I clicked to learn this 😀
Is it possible to do basic “muscle simulations” using shape keys?
I already new how to use shape keys but you really helped me with this tutorial
@Jayanam will this still work if I use a blank model from MakeHuman or will i have to make the blank model myself
This is a really creative method of using shape keys. Thanks for sharing this
Is it just me or did shape keys/morph targets break in ue4.17?
you are a multi talent.
All this time blender has had a Non-Destructive Modelling possibilities, as always — just awesome knowledge!
Nice tutorial Bro… Thanks….
