I'm how i did it, but i didnt use the composited or in cycles, I used a material and blender internal?

Any chance of doing another tutorial…the same, but with text that appears as wood?
How would I keep the texture but remove the planes etc so I could just take the letters as a png so I can use as a layer in photoshop?
