Blender Tutorial Making a Model of a Sports Car (Lowish Polygon Count) Part 1 The Body

This is part one of a three part tutorial showing how to make a model of a sports car.

The sports car is based roughly on an AMX/3 model, using a design from this website –

This first part shows how to make the body of the car.

The car is divided into two parts, the body and the top. The main technique for both is tracing the side view and then extruding.

The subdivision surface modifier is used to shape the extrusion. Before applying the modifier it is important to get the topology right i.e. quad face (where ever possible) and face loops (for the wheel arches).

The outline of the body of the car before extrusion and the finished body can be downloaded from my website –

  1. Hello friend, I am trying to find the image of the car at the links you left in the description it says: "The have been moved, updated or deleted." Can you please help me, because your model seems very helpful in my design class and I want to make it.
