Blender Tutorial Making a Simple Model of a Car Part 2 Adding Colour and Wheels

In this the second part of a tutorial on making a simple car, colour and wheels are added to the car body made in the first part.

Colour is added to body of the car and a different colour is used for the glass. To use more than one colour requires a new material slot and applying selected materials to selected faces.

The wheels are simply cylinders. They are placed and then parented to the car. By making the car body the parent and the wheels children, the wheels can be rotated independently of the car.

  1. Yes I found that 1 a few weeks back Ian thanks, a good tutorial but I dont think he goes on to explain how he made the curved wall in the model that shows first, although I think I could work it out if needed. Probably just grab a few verts or edges and use proportional editing to get a nice even curve. I also found one by a different chap that uses an actual floor plan to model precisely to required measurements, also a good tutorial.

  2. Thanks Ian, enjoyable and useful tut. I have a request mate…modelling buildings, a nice complicated one! Ive tried a few simple buildings with satisfactory results but would like to see your methods and tips. Cheers mate.
