    It's funny how the standard white material looks so awesome for everyone but me. I think my cpu doesn't handle light calculations very well, it's a Dual Core 2.66 Ghz

    what is the your computer setup? like what model pc is it, and what graphics card do you have, and how many cores is your pcu processor? also, did you go to school for 3d modeling/animation?
