Cheap and Light: A Review of the Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2 Lens

Tamron has been on a roll as of late, and perhaps one of the most interesting new lenses is the 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2, which comes in a lightweight and inexpensive package and offers macro capabilities in addition to normal wide angle usage. Is it the next lens for your bag? This great video review will answer that question for you.

Coming to you from Dustin Abbott, this excellent video review takes a look at the Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2 lens. The 20mm f/2.8 is quite the interesting lens; although it has a rather modest maximum aperture, it has a 0.5x maximum magnification, giving it decent macro capabilities, and it sells for just $349 and weighs under half a pound. In addition, it comes with a moisture-resistant design, three Low Dispersion elements for reduced chromatic aberrations, a molded glass aspherical element for reduced distortion and improved sharpness, Broad-Band Anti-Reflection for reduced flares and ghosting and improved contrast, fluorine coating for dirt and smudge protection, and a rounded seven-blade diaphragm for smooth bokeh. Altogether, it looks like an intriguing option for anyone looking for a portable, affordable, and versatile option. Check out the video above for Abbott’s full thoughts.
