In this Adobe Lightroom tutorial, we’ll take a black and white photo and use the Adjustment Brush to drop multiple pins and control each segment of the photo to β€œpaint” in color, tone, as well as highlights and shadows to create a realistic-looking color image. We will also cover how to double or triple the power of the adjustment brush by duplicating pins, we’ll talk about auto-masking the Adjustment Brush, and also reduce the overall opacity of an individual pin, and much more! This tutorial is a bit longer than I initially expected it would be, but it’s full of all kinds of info and examples to get you started colorizing your own photos today!

  1. Nice tutorial again! OffTopic I just wonder why some of your videos (like this) there is no sound on my Chrome browser..my soundcard is fine, other youtube videos there is sound ,flash is updated and so on…If I use e.g Firefox sound is ok. Just saying:)

  2. I don't even use lightroom, and I watched the whole thing. I'm not much of a photographer, mostly a Photoshop pixel jockey, and I clicked this thinking it was probably one of your Photoshop videos, and it was so fascinating I just watched the whole thing. I had no idea you could do so much in Lightroom. Thanks πŸ™‚

  3. Great Tutorial and I use the colorizing feature with the brush with a lot of my floral photos (in the eyes on portraits) to give a little color touch to areas I want to highlight. I get tired of jumping back and forth into PS and try doing as much as I can in LR.
    Again, Thanks.

  4. damn man! I heard photographers say about "impossibility" of this process and then bang! You did that i 20 minutes! Every video you make I am more amezed and I believe more in myself doing stuff like that. Thank you very much!

  5. I really like this! I've done some old 40s black & white family photos, but I think I used the HSL filter, which didn't look this good. It seems your method gives you more control and variety in the color. Thanks for doing this.
