A seasonally appropriate project: Icicles. During this stream I will create an icicle render from scratch. The goal is realistic lighting and shading with a macro camera angle. Meaning up-close and strong depth of field.

Yea Macs don't work well with Blender anymore.
Tom Rosendaal recently switched away from a Mac to a ThinkPad

I wish the reference image function had been kept unaltered the way it handled in 2.72. I really have problems operating the 2.8 reference image tool.

About Eevee: you need to get a new computer, a strong graphics card is very important for realtime rendering.
Once you have a powerful workstation you will never want to go back.
Got myself a PC for 1800 € recently and it performs like a boss.

instead of using the absorption node is it possible to use volumetrics? if so, which technique is more PBR accurate.

um, in my blender(Ver.2.8) the noise texture and displacement effect doesn't work. I installed the blender on 2.16, maybe it might be changed:(

To get back the normal cutting noodles tool, go to Preferences>Keymap>Node Editor>Node Editor (Global)>Cut Links, change it from Tweak to Mouse and then set the thing next to it to Ctrl Left Mouse.

Have you ever heard of PureRef? If not, it's a fantastic free software for just pasting in images without even having to download them, which is GREAT for references!

    Btw, for the mac users
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.

    Click Keyboard.

Click the Keyboard tab if it's not already highlighted.

Select "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys"

Maybe a black light scene in one of your projects, where you can see the light from the bulbs and when turned on makes all the scene come glowing alive like a real black light.

Oh man, this is sweet music to my ears. I have been asking different people who teach blender to please do some full project tutorials. I am with you all the way.. Do some stuff taking vectors into blender and making them 3d in some of your projects. How about some crystal lettering.
