Digital Painting Workflow in Photoshop

This is a video about my workflow and process when I’m painting in Photoshop. This is not an in-depth tutorial, as I do not get into detail about any specific techniques, instead I talk about my workflow in general and the thoughts that run through my mind when drawing. I believe this is a good example for beginners who want to see and get an idea about how digital paintings are created in Photoshop. Digital painting can definitely be confusing but the more time you invest in it, the easier it becomes. I had a blast working on this illustration and I hope you like the video!

  1. Have you been reading my mind!? I was definitely going through a stuck-in-my-comfort-zone/wanting-to-improve mood just yesterday! I felt like I was getting into a negative head space, but today I feel much happier. I think I was feeling frustrated because I feel like I haven't been improving, yet also having to understand that it takes a long time to improve as well. I need to get out of my comfort-zone and try different things with digital art. By the way, your painting is absolutely gorgeous! I always enjoy watching your process! ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Thank you for sharing! It's refreshing seeing another artist work in photoshop! I like the point you brought up about doing client work and how it can be tricky to deal with the pressure to give them what they want, instead of just focusing on the craft. This year is my first official year as a freelance artist and what you said reminded me to focus more on perfecting the flow of how I work and being open to making changes in my process while still knowing I can deliver the desired piece.

  3. Well, I like my advantage to have no fear of get out confort zone, I always try something new, I can't make 2-3 portraits in same style before get bored, so this is really cool for experimentation, but damn I can't stick to one style in particularly, haha.. Anyway lovely portrait mate, keep it up!

  4. Dude!
This couldn't have come at a better time having just started learning digital painting myself. I haven't really refined my process as much as I would have liked yet as I'm still learning the multitude of tools out there and this will has shed so much light on the pieces of my workflow that I'm missing!
Definitely going to take these points on-board moving forward. Particularly about learning more anatomy, I have been meaning to for a while but you right. Are there any books or resources in particular you could recommend?

  5. I adore you as a person and your fenomenal works so much since you started and I KNOW you will make it so much bigger than now. Stay as awesome and chill as you are now <3 and great process video as always!
