As you create in Photoshop, In order to craft your images and your composition you will often experience the challenging task of extracting various parts out of an image, or removing parts away.
In Photoshop there are various methods you can use to modify an image to cut a specific part out or remove away the parts you do not wish to include in your design.
In this tutorial I am going to demonstrate a number of ways you can do this. Later in this video I will be recommending the best practice for such a task.
I will also be referencing some additional videos I have created previously. These videos will go into more depth on some of the topics I will cover in this video.
Enjoy
**FYI**
In this video tutorial I will be using Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 for mac. Almost all of the principles demonstrated and covered will apply to future and previous versions. Some differences may apply if you are using a previous or future version.

Masking was always a confusion even after going to a course. But you teach it so easily
4:03 For earlier photoshop users deleting objects might not work.I found this
`We need to merge the group in order to nudge the selection.
Select the group from Layers palette (pressing Ctrl+E is going to do the job of two lines below)
Right-click on the group
Choose Merge Group
Hint: It's better to duplicate the group and hide it before merging so that we can edit layers in the group when we need them.
Select the group from Layers palette
Right-click on the group
Choose Duplicate Group…
To hide this group, click the "eye" icon next to its thumbnail`
I don't see the link to download the pdf

Thank you SO much for your amazing informative videos Gareth! I really appreciate them. You explain in such an easy to understand way. A good mantra for layer masks is, "White reveals and black conceals!" Lol

Gareth, it was such a helpful tutorial! Thanks for sharing your knowlegde with us. However, I have a doubt! How can I create different masks for a single layer? For example, I'm working on an architectural visual and I want to have a mask for road, sky, ground […] multiple masks for a single layer so I can treat each one differently.
