Five Ways to Improve Your Posing

When it comes to taking images of couples, one of the biggest struggles photographers deal with is posing. Since posing can make or break and good image, these five tips can take your posing to next level.

In this video, you will see five different tips that will help fix a certain set of poses. While these fixes are meant to be applied to portraits of couples, I have already found some of these to be quite useful when dealing with individuals and even small groups. Tip one has already come in handy for me during a senior shoot and I can already see its usefulness in images such as groom portraits, formals, and even family portraits. I also found tip five extremely useful. I always found myself struggling with making this pose look intimate. Whenever I tried using this pose the couple always felt disconnected, or as described in the video, looking more 70’s prom style. The idea of standing between each other’s feet had just never occurred to me. After seeing the tip though, I had one of those “duh” moments and feel a lot more confident in using that pose.

What tip stood out the most to you? Do you have any tips that you feel deserve to be on the list?
