when i do what he did at 7:00 I also end up with the parts on the outside. it doesn't show up in the project, but once i save as a png file it has the transparent background, but it also has all the extra overlay stuff too. for example the parts he is making at the 7min marker.
when i try to do what he does at 2:50 it doesn't do anything it just stays white. I've tried doing this multiple times.
