  1. This is a great guide for a beginner or expert compositor. It starts off with the basics of extraction and how to shoot your subject and takes you all the way through creating wonderful composites for an array of different projects. It helped a great deal with my
learning curve for composting pictures. This learning by doing method gave me the confidence to take on more complex projects and was very fun to do.

  2. Great tutorial! Do you know if instead of taking 3 different photos with different exposures, can I just take one photo and change exposure in my light room and then create hdr like that? Would that be easier and more sharpness?

  3. You were lucky to hav evisited the canyon before the Indians got super greedy and banned tripods on non-photographic tours.  In addition, they shove groups one after another so that there isn't even 2-3 seconds of time between groups.  Another paradise spoiled by the greed.

  4. Thanks a lot again Serge! One question please! Two years ago you started HDR tutorials with Photomatics now you use more Hdr Efex pro. What is your preferenses? As for my opinion it depends of a purpose but i just finished watching this tuorial and got  the answer. Thanks a lot again.Best regards from Ukraine!

  5. Good day Serge, Yes it is a very useful demonstration of the possibilities we can do with those Adobe programs. But, don't you think it will be as efficient and easier to use in Lightroom 5 the eraser to remove the person on the lower left?

  6. Thanks, Serge, again for your very good tutorial. I have 3 different programs to do HDR (Nik, Photomatix and Expose 3). Although Nik is by far the simplest, my best results have been with Expose 3 (although I'm still learning how to use it since I just recently bought it). Photomatix is standart, very well, but is not that simple to use and one little error with just one slide and everything is spoiled. Perhaps you'd like to try the program…
BTW, I liked your cloning… much better than my "angle change" with the clone pallet!
Thanks again and keep on, man! I love your tutorials!

  7. If you have photomatrix, you don't need to bring the raw to photoshop cs for 32 bit conversion. Photomatrix (PM) will automatically convert your file to 32 bit (when you check the option of "show intermediate 32 bit image"), you will see the flash screen of your "32-bit" photo in 1-2 seconds just right before it's being brought in to the PM interface.
IMHO, the best workflow is to do 1 exposure HDR. 1st, do "Serge" style retouching of the photo, then bring the photo to PM,

  8. You dont have to sharpen in photoshop. Photomatrix will do all the sharpening, if you turn the "micro contrast" to max. When you return to LR, on "Detail" tab turn on noise reduction, bc even with 1 exposure hdr with iso 100 ,there is still noise being brought in. Photomatrix will do All the sharpening you need. To fing my photo jn Flickr 5 you need to google how to search member names, once you get to that link, then search my username: likehe888

  9. Good demonstration of of how to use these techniques and how they differ.
You did not however cover the best way to make an HDR. Using Lightroom and Photoshop cs5 or newer.

In Lightroom or bridge select your bracketed photos (unedited photos), right click and merge in PS HDR pro. Save as a single "32bit" Tiff. Import that photo to Lightroom and edit it as you normally would.

I think that you will find that this will give you a larger dynamic range and the photo overall will just look better.
