How It Feels To Learn JavaScript In 2016?

So, recently I’ve stumbled accross this article called “How It Feels To Learn JavaScript In 2016?” at HackerNoon and I decided to make a video about it.

So, basically this article discussess how it feels to learn JavaScript in 2016. This guy wanted to learn JavaScript and suddenly he discovered HOW COMPLEX web development is right now and how many things you’ll need to learn in order to become a programming language expert.

Not only that, the complexity is rising more and more each day and things are really flying off the rails.

In this video I will discuss a little bit more about how does it feel to become a web developer right now and why this article was one of the best I’ve read in a long time.

  1. If you slow down and control information flow (like with a committee) all you do is slow or even bring to a halt natural evolution and progress.
All these languages, frameworks and build tools popping left and right up is a very good thing and should only be encouraged. Because it means we are on the way to the best possible solution and not some compromise of a group of people with lots of politics and ego involved.

  2. TypeScript isn't that hard at all. It's like JavaScript with Java or C# basic elements. It solves problems fast. If you find a framework you like, master it. Don't get distracted by tools. You can watch for them and play with new tools, but stay focus on what you learn. If you're learning Angular 4, don't mess with React unless you are a true pro.

  3. I'm thinking that web assembly is our only hope at creating a simple future built on the lessons learned from all the dead ends that javascript has led us down. I'd love to see a C syntax language that has all the good parts of Javascript and then has the actor model of Erlang and the oo ease of python.

  4. Pretty late to the party, but I would say much of this subject points towards the inevitability of specialization going forward, in conjunction with increased use of AI to assist with management of the complexity we keep growing in every human activity.

  5. Best line in the article.
-It’s JavaScript. There has to be
thousands of libraries that all do the same thing. We know libraries, in
fact, we have the best libraries. Our libraries are huuuge, and
sometimes we include pictures of Guy Fieri in them.

  6. I was a beginner last year and man… Learning these things was almost unbearable. And my project actually needed backend as well… I basically spent 18h a day nonstop to get where I am now, and I know that 90% of people can't go through that quite easily. It is possible, but not really sure if it's worthy the effort.

  7. I kind of like to get to know the latest technology or frameworks… I use to read up a little on the main concepts or POCs, but I don't take it too hard on myself to learn them thoroughly. I think it's important to get to know some of the advantages that they can eventually bring in, however.

  8. I watched this video and read the whole blog post. I am nor more confused than I have ever been and feel really discouraged. How on earth are you supposed to get started learning this stuff when it so bloody complicated.
