How to Convincingly Add a Tattoo to Your Subject in Photoshop

Tattoos can be a very unique way to add something that makes your subject stand out. This neat tutorial will show you how to take a design and convincingly place it on your subject in Photoshop.

Coming to you from Jesus Ramirez of the Photoshop Training Channel, this tutorial will walk you through the process of adding a tattoo to someone. It might be a great way to try one out yourself too, before that spring break adventure gone awry ends in a real one plastered somewhere you’ll regret. Even if it’s not something you see yourself using, I personally think this is a good tutorial to try out, as you’ll get some practice warping objects over a surface that isn’t flat, which takes a bit of finesse, and you’ll work with blending modes and the Blend If feature to convincingly fuse the two layers, all skills whose usefulness carries beyond this exercise. When using the high-pass filter to create a texture layer, remember that the radius selection will depend on your specific image. Also, remember to convert the tattoo layer to a smart object so your work on it is nondestructive, allowing you to go back and adjust anything you might need to.
