This tutorial shows How To Rig A Dragon In Blender 2.78 c.

How to build a full armature rig from a single bone for the dragon.

How to rig IK wings

How to Rig Ik legs and head

How to rig eyeballs

How to rig the tail

How to use copy and location constraints to assist in helping an animator control the rig.

How to join the armature rig to the dragon mesh

How to weight paint to help the rig control the dragon mesh more accurately

How to parent all the bones to a master controller.

    Nice…appreciate you putting this in Blender Swap….questions: 1. why not make it in Cycles? and 2. If I append this object (dragon) into my cycles blend, it does not always work at to textures…..have you seen this later problem? Any suggestion? Thanks I really love you work

    I notice some times when I'm trying to do some edits to a mesh. If I say remove an Edge. Then right in the middle of the face there will still be a fold in the Face where the Edge used to be. And the only way I can get rid of that is putting an Edge that goes through it. Also sometimes adding or removing an Edge or Vert will break the shading. And the area gets dark. How can I fix those issues. Is there a button or option I need to press to tell blender to make the Face flat again and turn the darkened spots back to light again.

    Please say he's gonna fly in the next part…one cannot simply follow this much tutorial attentively and not have a flying dragon at the end of it 😛

    Hi Sir. Another very well explained tutorial!
    On you tube I've discovered the bendy bones feature.
    What do you think about using it  on neck and tail to make them more sinuous?

    A little thing (maybe offtopic here).
    WIth your thoughts on blender render vs cycles, you save me a lot of time.
    I like to animate simulations (keva planks, spheres, rigid body) but I've never thought to use blender render to speed up the rendering! So thanks again! 😀
