Character modeling is a coveted specialty that takes a lot of patience, a lot of skill, and no small amount of work. But character modeling is also a lot of fun and very satisfying once you become comfortable with the techniques and workflows needed to bring your designs to life.

I would be lying if I said there was a single workflow for every character. Every model you do will be done in a slightly different way. In fact, nearly every character artist will approach models with their own outlook and workflow. The goal is to development a workflow that allows you, the artist, to create the required design in an effective and efficient manner.

What you’ll learn

Through this course I will be taking you through a variety of techniques and workflows in order to create our pilot character. Among other things, you will learn how to create basemeshes, find ways to model and sculpt a variety of forms, and discover the different sculpting brushes and systems. You will also learn how to retopologize various surfaces to create clean topology, how to quickly rig and weight paint the character, and finally you’ll see how to pose the character for a more dynamic form.

Plenty of free tutorial to teach you all of this, so why should one buy your product when there is exactly same stuff but for free? Darrin Lile comes to mind… People save yourself some money and just learn from other people who do it for free. It's kinda sad that people make money of freeware software while not giving a single penny to actual Blender developers…

I know I say this a lot, but, I see a lot of people complaining about the tut costing money, it only proves more so that donations would be more beneficial, especially from those who were proud to have had the information freely provided when unable to find it anywhere else.

many people complain that the tutorial costs money, but i learned so much from just this introduction alone that i never would have thought to do otherwise. like using the skin modifier to build the base of the character. good job guys.

For everyone complaining about blender tutorials skipping certain parts, the goals is to get you to modeling your own characters.
Read the title morons. It is called introduction to character animation and the videos cover all of the aspects of beginning a character all the way to completion. If your not apart of the blender community then you would not know how to work around the interface. But, that is with any 3d interface. Some people say that blender is difficult to learn. I have maya and still dont know how to work around it. The point that i am making is that anyone has to get familiar with software interface in order to work around it.
Blender has tons of videos in the cgcoockie community.
How about you create a free account, watch the free videos, and learn the interface. And if you dont want to join cgcoockie.com/blender, then check out you tube blender tutorials for beginners. If you fail to read "blender introduction to character modeling", then back to school is where you need to go. People really need to learn to read thoroughly. No wonder our nation say some of the stupidest and ignorant things. Why would you even pirate something where someone is trying to help you learn something?
