I was thinking about this phone coming from my Google Pixel 2 but I just can't get used to the IOS UI. I really tried too but I much prefer the Pixel 2 UI over this UI. Just my personal opinion.

What I don't get is the fact that after making so much fuss about the colours most buyers end up putting a case on it, so?

I would buy this phone….if they made it smaller. I’m not a big phone person. Would have been great if they made this exact phone the size of the XS alongside the XR to compliment ppl who don’t like big phones. Maybe next year.

stop praising iPhone man…. the fact that you said at 750 dollars isn't targeting high end audience is offensive. at 750 dollars consumers can get flagship top spec phone from bigger manufacturers than apple. So please stop misleading audience. its just another way for apple to rip people off. P20 takes on iPhone xs specs and has a better camera for the same price as the xr… can we stop praising this company and start demanding some respect to the money we spend

It is annoying when people keep complaining about oled when the majority of the ppl dont own a oled device to begin with. Apple is at no point in time going to drop the price of the flagship model no time soon. They set the market and going to continue to keep that pricing. The XR is a great looking phone and definitely at the solid price point. At least you know with a XR the phone is going to last 4+ years where you get androids and you are lucky they last 3 years. Im coming from a Iphone 6 that was on its last leg and the experience is day and night!

I received mine today (from T-Mobile) replacing my venerable iPhone 7 (with which I have had zero issues). It started up effortlessly…bringing it into proximity with my "about to be retired" iPhone 7 then restoring from iTunes backup. As has been said in this review (and others) the target market for this model IS NOT the person who wants EVERYTHING…but rather the person upgrading from an earlier iPhone. From that perspective this baby is a jewel…in fact, since iPhone 5 the Apple phone has "felt" like an object of art and this one is the best yet (that I have had). It is a bit heavier than my 7…but it is also a more powerful computer. I have used cases for all my previous iPhones but will hold off on this one because it is just so darned beautiful (and I'm not sure whether inductive charging works with a case, or not…I have this feature in my Chevy Bolt EV). I haven't dropped the past two phones I've had, so I'm taking chances on this one…at least for a while. Screen resolution: as good or a little better than what I'm used to…not even close to an issue. Bottom Line: for this "target market" guy…it's a beautiful step up (while still not requiring a 2nd Mortgage).

Traded a 2 year old iPhone 7 and got the 64gb XR for $360 for my son and he loves it, held it next to my XS Max and there is some difference but for what I paid XR is worth every penny!

Look at the XR in an Apple store lined up beside them all and you can't really tell any difference. I downgraded yesterday from a top of the line flagship Android phone to the XR 128gb. Regardless of the spec downgrade for the first time in nearly 5 years, I have a phone that works and a phone with the latest Apple processor and it simply works. I can finally use my phone and not have to worry about the countless hours of BS.. overheating and the millions of others problems that come along with Android. I'm happy! this is my first trip back to Apple since I jump ship after my iPhone 4. I can honestly say it feels good to be back home, no more BS. I'm not a tech nerd or pixel peeper so the XR hits right at the sweet spot for me.

winning how, with a 820p LCD display? and why you even upload this vid in 1080 when Xr users can't watch it?

As a matter of fact, seen in person the Xr feels more premium than Xs… Sorry guys but form factor and aluminum is much much more modern than steel! The white Xr is simply amazing … And even the (single ) camera in Normal mode takes better pics than Xs … 😉

Nick a great video in soo many ways. Plus I agree with you. I’m happy to hear yu say it’s a fantastic iPhone. I was also interested to learn about those oled drawbacks. And you’re a real good photographer. My one problem is, please do not call us design snobs. I’m not a snob. I simply respond a lot to design details and color. I see those things. I can’t help it. Born that way, highly aware of detail and asymmetry etc. ok?

Somebody help me out here. Majority of apple users buy the iPhones because iOS. They enjoy that operating system for whatever reason. So why is there so many people on here saying "go buy a Note 9 ,or a one plus 6t or so plus. Last time I checked all those phones are great hardware wise but they do not run iOS. Unless thiers a Note 9 iOS edition I didn't here of why are u suggesting it? I enjoy both platforms so I have Note 9 and Xs max. I'm not going to suggest my note 9 to an apple user cause they love iMessage or the way apps run on iOS. IDK just my thoughts.

Have been using android (oneplus, huawei, samsung,…) for a long time and my iPhone 5C was still the best experience i had IMO. People saying yeah my 200 dollar android phone even had a 1080p screen. Okay but was it decently color calibrated and still smooth after a year? I think not. Rather have lower res on a phone and better battery life then 1080p on a damn 5 inch screen

but for $750, the "premium" iOS should be able to run 2 apps at the same time split screen…. like most android phones. so you can run messenger, fb, etc, while watching a youtube vid or netflix or whatever. it's 2018 and we pay TOP TIER money (yes just like 2 short years ago $750 was to tier) for mid-tier technology. a freaking headphone jack would be nice, let alone a freaking dongle.

This phone is for new buyers and consumers wanting to upgrade from the iPhone 6,7, and 8 that can't afford to spend $1000 for an OLED screen. NOT the people bashing a criticizing it. They're still getting a device with mostly up to date and premium internals. Apple had to cut cost somewhere and they sacrificed the screen to do so. Millions of people don't care about the screen resolution. They just want longer battery life, a decent screen and decent camera. This phone should be compared to the iPhone 8 plus, NOT the XS or XS Max. The stupidity of people comparing LCD to OLED is beyond me. Of course an OLED screen is better. the XR is LCD

One problem with ALL iphones is the issue of battery degradation and glass repair. It is much more expensive to repair/replace a newer phone with apple care than an older iphone. It doesn't matter if you get 256GB of storage, apple care plus, or take amazing good care of it. All phones will require a battery replacement if you want to keep it longer than 3 years. My 64GB 6s is sitting at 80% life with 800 charge cycles. I'm forced into a decision because of how fast it drains: upgrade or repair? Apple's yearly plan is a scam, because you throw half the cost of your phone to them each year. The longer you keep your phone, the more value you have when you finally do upgrade. The MOST overall improvement you will see when upgrading is 50%, but most people will upgrade with barely 10-20% improvement. This considers all elements from hardware to software and user experience. Not much of what you do will change or improve. You still take photos, use apps, text, call, etc. Considering how you most often use your phone, the only two areas that will truly be "improved" will be the screen and battery life.

Hey nick do like your videos a lot , they are very detailed and on point. But , I just want to address something in south-asian counties the iPhone xr sells for $1000, the base model and the xs max sells for almost $1500 for the base model .But whereas you can android flagships for the same price or even less and if you address this drawback for people like me, this can be really helpful.
