A typical interaction with a device or interface involves touching it. Either you’re pressing buttons on a controller, swiping on a touchscreen or clicking on your laptop’s trackpad. But what if you could control things without the use of your hands? What if you could use… your thoughts?
I have been tinkering with a brain sensor and developed an open source JavaScript framework for it to allow me (or anyone else) to control interfaces or robots using facial expressions and mental commands.

I love the energy in this talk. So much awesome support!
Amazing and exciting stuff!!!
You don't have to take out your phone… But wearing such an octopus is super handy
Wow!!
You know what this means boys, ARMMORPG is coming !!!
SAO im going to see ya in a decade :*
this is very very cool – lots of possible applications for neurologists to use this with patients
the future is now.
17:36 "If you want to build a controlled car, you might not want to use this."
Looks at Michael Reeves.
May the force be with you
Where can I buy this thing ?
Whoever disliked this has no respect for this incredible woman which is being herself and trying to do something innovative.
looks exciting, with time it will work great
Now that's interesting!
Is that open-source?
This is going to be amazing for the Vr world..no need for controllers!
This video brings so many future possibilities to translating thoughts into coding lines. Really good vid. Thanks.
maybe a idea that you can develop.
use such scanner on a daily base, that it reads all your motions of your arms.
repeat the same thing every day (as close as possible)
then have a electronic hand/robot arm, link it to the script and try moving it with your mind.
if it works you have a robot arm that could be used for people who do not have a arm/hands
5:14 but it's not vegan lol
SAO, here we come! 😀
How can I join that slack channel? It says I need an invite.
professor X starter kit !!!
Its still awesome tho waiting for future release or any open source for this.
This is a cool idea.
This is where the neural network is best to tailor the number to get the control right
where can I buy that?
Congrats & kudos for the nice talk !
Especially for the "useless ain't worthless" quote -> indeed more than true ( even more combined with our friend serendipity to end up with too many open tabs & windows .. 😉 )
On the "chip implant side", you HAVE to check "memory transfer between snails" through RNA injection ( aside from electrocuting some of them, the subject of study is awesome & could lead to better understandings of how memory is "encoded" & "stored" by nature* ( for simple organisms ), and I'm pretty sure it'll be interesting for you to digg ( & then go on building artistic hack on that 🙂 )
*not by some researchers having fun makin "nanoscale gifs" 😉
For any reader interested, you DO have to train the facial expressions as well for some individuals ( as I ): it seems on this subject too, "we all have nearly the same wires but they're not wired the same way"
Last but not least, as said on Github/by mail the last time we talked, I plan to update the epocutils lib that handles "raw" data & init a pull request once done so, maybe with a little nodejs wrapper up-to-date on the nan & cie stuff 🙂
> also, thanks for the mention on Github: it's always nice to be credited ;p
Keep up the good work ++
Great to watch the presentation. Inspiring and exciting about where tech can be going.
This is so exciting. I don't care if the demo does not work sometimes because as a developer myself I know things just does not work when you try to show it to someone. What matters is the idea and progress she has made so far.
Nice topic 🙂
well.. you need to open source it, we can build it together. brain control stuff is future 😀
A M A Z I N G
13:30 engage Jedi mode
Very engaging and entertaining speaker. Opening up immense possibilities for the future. Good job.
Javascript for the brain?
Has science gone too far?
21:56 AlterEgo sounds awesome.
What an endearing demo!
Would the effect of the dopamine/adrenaline surging on stage casue an interference? It makes sense to me on the neural activity level?
Abosultely fantastiiiccc. Thank you for shariiing
Extremely exciting Charlie!
SixthSense demo was one of the best demos I have ever seen. Awesome stuff
cool
