  1. This is a great tutorial! Love the setup! I understand you are more of a modeler and your great at that because you specialize in it. So as you said before rigging is not your thing. Rigging those characters correctly, easy and animating would be a lot of fun. There is a great tutorials on Rigify by DanPro check him out he gives tips, tricks and information you can not find on rigging on YouTube. He is awesome!

  2. I'm having a probelm.. With Blender 2.75 I'm trying to do my test render with 200 samples and I'm getting a CUDA running out of memory error. But I have a GTX 980ti 6gb, so I feel like I shouldn't be having this issue… I could be wrong. Particle systems have 500,000 and 50,000, but I've rendered other scenes with similar specs just fine. Any help?

  3. The pose of the astronaut is very strange. Once you know what it's about, it seems OK, but when I first looked at the image, I couldn't make heads or tails of the posture, especially with all the "grass". I didn't know how his legs were positioned exactly and what it meant, it looked very unnatural to me. Even if you do know that he's kneeling on one knee, the significance of that pose escapes me. Is he just standing up? Has he been picking something up? Is he paying homage to the alien? Is he getting ready to pull out a gun? Really weird…

  4. Could you please include all project files with each tutorial?

I think tutorial makers should always provide the project files with each tutorial.Makes it easier for us to follow since we can look at the files' settings to copy it without problem while at the same time watch the tutorial as a guide.

  5. +Andrew Price Hey Andrew, I noticed you open the color tabs and copy past the HEX code. You can actually just hover the mouse over the color rectangle and copy and paste it by just hovering over it, no need to open or select the HEX
Same with all other values like location, strengths etc. No need to click and select them, all you need is to hover

  6. This is a nice tutorial 🙂
But why do MY in between 'test' renders take hours o0
I know my pc is not the best but on your system it takes like 54 seconds. I do not think my PC is so teribad.

    Win 7 – 64bit
    8GB ram
    AsRock Extreme 4 mobo
    AMD AM3+ FX-8120 (8-core) 3.10 Ghz

    2x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (2GB each)

  7. Totally love this tutorial.  It tackles some aspects of blender that I'm still really struggling with so, thanks.  Also, off topic, but I sent an question through Blender Guru about a paper I'm doing on Blender.  Was hoping to discuss it with you a bit.  Anyway, since I know this isn't, wanted to know the proper method for getting you a message.

  8. Hi! I'm now actually looking at someone, who's not me, using tis model. Just by seeing this video, you made me notice several problems with my model. I'll be fixing them ASAP to make the model more user-friendly.
    Good tutorial!
Juan Ignacio Gil-Hutton from Argentina (that's the spanish you can found in the astronaut .blend)

  9. Actually, I think it's completely fine to use the image editor, when you are aiming for the still. In the end, all our efforts with making 3D scene will be collapsed to 2D image. So using the image editor to edit 2D image right away seems natural to me. 🙂

  10. I fully agree with you Andrew on the sentiment behind using other people's models.
Personally since I'm a beginner I try to do everything myself to learn how to do it, but I see nothing wrong with professional artists using 3rd party models.
In fact ever since I heard you talk about it on one of your podcasts I started paying attention to it. You know which company is mentioned in the credits of Guardians of the Galaxy? Turbosquid :). So yeah…
