Making Of Couette – Tutorial Maya 3D Character Modeling Texturing Rigging and Animation, Photoshop

Here is Couette, a game character I entirely imagined, designed and animated as an end-studies project. This is actually my first one, I’ve never done that much till now, so please be indulgent ๐Ÿ™‚

The video is not really a tutorial, but more like an overview of all the steps required to create a 3D character for a video game, steps like conception, modelling, texturing, rigging and animation of the model.

I’ve been working mainly with Maya and Photoshop, but also ZBrush and a lot of little helping programs.

The 3 music tracks come from the free album Oh My, by Sean Fournier, available at http://www.sean-fournier.com/

Now just sit down and let me and Couette show you how everything works ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I have no idea if you still use this channel but HELLO NATH! It's Duncan from a loooong time ago. Your 3D work inspired me so much when I was at uni back in 2011 training to be a games artist and now I have my own YouTube channel doing crazy things with Far Cry 5 and a job in the games industry. THANK YOU for inspiring me back then! I hope you are well and staying safe in these crazy times. Love from Scotland! <3

  2. duda ,3dsmax is far far better and easy interface then maya ,maya might be good but if compair 3dsmax ,which is the most awsome easy to manipulation solutions then maya sorry, but i prefer 3dsmax .

  3. Howdy. It's really simple: create a TGA with your picture (using the alpha layer to display only the drawing lines) and import it in maya as an Image Plane. Google "Maya Image Plane" to see how to configure it ๐Ÿ˜‰
Like this, your drawings are bound to the cameras, and you can simply display or hide them. Hope this answers your question!

  4. ok, this vid is amazing. This is exactly what i'm studying atm.
Does anyone here know a good tutorial for texturing and/or rigging? I'm a noob at both of those.
I'd like to know how to set up and unfold UV's neatly and port them over to photoshop. And the basix of rigging, would be nice too. Thx
