In this tutorial I show a way to quickly get a character to move the jaw on the rhythm and amplitude of the targeted soundfile. I discovered this way after having to equip a character with additional speaking/mouth animations in about no time.
It needs the Maya Bonus Tools, which you can get through Autodesk:

Skin painting. Agreed, it is not my favorite.
I can't seem to add the .wav file into the timeline in Maya. Help..?
