Maya has a tool to measure the exact distance between two points in Maya. This tool will help you to model to scale. In this tutorial I will also explain where you can change your measurement setting to centimeters, inches etc.

  1. I am a little stupid and keep going to the Maya "HELP" pages. These are mostly useless! You answered everything perfectly in one shot!! Plus, you actually showed me how to get there and what to do.If you are looking to scale something then you will probably want to know how to measure distances at some point. You showed that too. Great job! Also, I did not know Maya was "SCALE SENSITIVE". That was a big eye opener, as I could not figure out why my lighting was so far off. Using centimeters instead of "Feet" might do that!! Now I do everything in feet.

  2. Thank you for this video, I didn't even see that in the Create drop-down, it was one of the tools that didn't exist until you came along. Subbed even though this video is kind of old. Still holds true.

  3. Clicking on the objects themselves give a measurement from pivot of the first object to the pivot of origin of the second object. so where ever your re trying to measure just the distance between the objects you want to go from vertex to vertex
