Hi Creators,

In this video tutorial, we will go over how to create exterior lighting using Physical Sky in Arnold for Maya. Physical Sky is an excellent Arnold light that can be used to create quick lighting set up for your exterior environments or just make your models look great.

You can even make a time lapse with it! Let’s check it out.

  1. Hi! Thanks for the video! I saw both SkyDome and PhysicalSky videos and comprehended both well. I just don't know when to use one over the other… what are your suggestions? Can you help me out with this question? Again, thanks very much for the tutorial, I am loving the series!

  2. I've seen a lot maya tutorials channels (with lot of subscribers) who probably start teaching by ignoring the very basic elements' properties. But here this channel has taught me so much (not for the 1st time) from the scratch that I was unable to learn probably I'm not smart enough to pick everything on the way on my own! Thanks for clearing me up with "glass transparency" issue. You are really amazing!

  3. I find your tutorials really great. As someone who worked in the film industry and learned Maya all the way back in 2007, seeing some of the updated ways of working (and trying to remember my own workflow) is really appreciated.

  4. Hi there Monica. Video is usefull as always. Arnold on this video really reminds me keysot. Do You think that keyshot and Arnold are similar or one of them is better?

  5. Very nice video. I love this system, it is so handy!

By the way, the attribute Sun size is also used to soften the shadows. The bigger the sun the softer the shadow and, of course, the smaller the sun the harder the shadows (pretty much like an area light).
