  1. Hey man, I know you made this a while ago, but I have a rather simple question to ask. What if you wanted to lift the bottom end of the tie and "release it" so that it drops again as dynamic. Is there a way to have it so there is some semblance of control to the dynamic object aside from the root object? I'm rigging a very long pony tail and while the dynamic aspect of it looks great, I'd like to be be able to move it somewhat from its tip.

  2. Amazing pal, how to make it collide like ex: hair i want to animate the hair of my character it's a manga style i think this method will work cool but do you need controler for that or you need to put wind as force to drive it?

  3. hey great vids it lines up perfectly with my character cause he has a tie. just on question. Once you create this system how to you apply it to your characters overall skeleton and control groups. I figured i would parent my Tie Root joint to my neck joint and parent my control to my chest control. Any thoughts?

  4. Excuse me,but, if you wanted to attach the end of the tie to any surface so only the middle of it woud be dynamic,  how could you do it? (Sorry I don't know if I explained myself, my english is a little bad)

  5. I couldn't seem to get it to work with the new nHair, but you can un-check "Use Nucleus Solver" on the Hair System Shape in 2013 and it will work. However my tests of this in 2013 have yielded some unfavorable results like the setup twitching or jumping during playback so test it out first.

  6. This tutorial is great! just what i was looking for..though now im a bit stuck on how to attach the tie to the character rig so that it follows the body. Would I need to parent the tie root joint to the chest joint or just apply a parent constraint to the controls instead?

  7. The best way in 2012 (I've found) is to select your Dynamic Curve and then create a Collide Sphere (Hair>Create Constraint>Collide Sphere) then just shape the sphere to your mesh and parent it in. You can also use the actual mesh by selecting the Hair System then your mesh and then doing Hair>Make Collide. With this method you'll need to play with the offset settings in the hair system and it can break sometimes. Try both in a test file first to see which you like more. Good Luck!

  8. Thanks so much for this tutorial! Very helpful ^_^ Just wondering, is there a way to get the tie to collide or interact with another mesh? I've tried but can't seem to get it to work.
