Thanks
that is really unexpected 0o0
I did all that following your steps, but when I hit "ctrl=e" instead of getting a straight line like yours, it is asking me to extrude it manually like we used do usually, why I am not getting the straight line.?
Hi mike! thank you for your tutorial! I learnt a lot from this, I was stuck in rope modeling for a while now!
Have fun Rendering ;___;
Thank you very much. It's fascinating!
You probably know that now, but to snap the 4 circles to the curve you could hold in C and use the middle mouse button and drag it to the end of the curve.
very helpful thanks!
The extrude isn't working for me. I have it all set up, wbut when I try to extrude the polygon onto the line, it just normally extrudes. After playing around in the settings i can gety it to extrude to te first centre pivot. Anyone know what I could be doing wrong. This is in the lastest version of maya
Thank You Sir
Wow, this is really helpful tutorial and easy.

Hi Mike!!! First things first… Congratulations on such an amazing channel!!! I am studying digital animation and your videos have been of great help during the time Ive been through my career.
I just have a simple question though. The level of subdivisions you use here… Aint it a bit too high to slow down a render? Even more so if the rope is rigged and animated?
Pretty noob question, I know, yet its something that crossed my mind when seeing the video.
Anyways, thanks for your time and wonderful work!! Keep it up!!
great video man, and thanks for talking INTO the mic, loud and clear, sir. cheers
Thank you…:)
mine doesnt even extrude. It doesnt work for me.Need help 🙁
Thanks your tutorial.
Cheers man this actually helped me a bit with a project I'm currently working on :). It took me a few tries to get right but once I got it working it was really useful so thanks for this tutorial. Also you got yourself a new subscriber from this so you're welcome.
Hey Mike, when I extrude nothing happens to my cylinder layers and when I try to increase the thickness they don't follow the line created.
Thank you Mike.
mine goes straight when i extrude it does not align with curve.
You make maya easy! Thanks!!! 🙂
do you know the insert key button for mac?
Hello really like the style that this technique produces and am trying to replicate it for a full asset yet i have two questions that need help with.
First when would you uv the assets? at the point before add divisions i would guess.
Second Will this way of designing heavy duty rope work, if i used the curve tool along a Y axis The goal i'm after is rope to go with a ship sail, so i don't want it flat. Any answers are very helpful.
Awesome tutorial! I am trying to make a braided rope like this, but I need it to be in a perfect circle. How could I create a path in a perfect circle for it to extrude along? Curves is cool, but I can't make a perfect circle with that tool.
