In this Blender 2.5 video tutorial we go through a fun modeling exercise by modeling a building from a single reference. Due to not have any head-on views of the building we model everything by eyeballing it, using some techniques to best approximate the actual dimensions. By the end of the tutorial we’re left with a model that could easily be used as a game asset or as a base for much more highly detailed building model.

I was thinking on modeling something like the General Electric Building, Carnegie Hall. I think I changed my mind lol
SO slow compared to sketchup… sad that its not free for commercial use though so gonna be stuck with slow blender.
Thanks for the tutorial
go ahead
I pass that building twice a day….

look on google maps
How did you make that height is being shown while verts are selected?
Hey. Can I export this project to unreal engine and put on textures?
Was this video made before bmesh?
uv unwrap~~ pls
can you do the star theatre in Dansville ny or the castle on hill in Dansville
Love this video! Suggestion as I make videos too and I've noticed this among my viewers: it's easier to screencast your keys rather than say which key your pressing each time you press it. Don't get me wrong though, this is an awesome video!
F6? (on the cylinder)
Dang it didn't seem an hour
What about if you want to make the building hollow like for games. I am making a building for a game i'm making and need players to be able to go inside.
i think silo is the easiest 3d modeler. no switching from object to edit mode either. i hate that part. i wish blender would adapt silos modeling style, it so much faster , well for me anyway.
how did he add the photo?
Great Video! Don't get the people who complained about it being incomprehensable for newbies. You really have to read some basics, which would take you about an hour and then just play around and watch tutorials. If the tutor uses some plugin that shows you his keypresses its even better.
So thanks for this great video!
it's good but i think you have to work on your explanations, sometimes a but unclear you know… "add there… and there… snap to there… there and there.."
What key is pressed at 9:33 to select the vertices?
Lol
I'm assuming your in North America and you have 8 foot long cars!
In the UK our minis are over 12 foot
everythings bigger in the UK
Hi! How do you select all the edge with the vertex mode selection? I dont wanna to click each one vertex.
I had a hard time following the instructions, all these keys and shortcuts are not helpful for us noobies. However, the video is very thorough in why do you do what you're doing. When I learn a bit more of the tools I'll follow your tutorials.
sir,
we are preparing a project on augmented reality that would allow us to view a 3D house image and then further through animation we would also get the internal(floor-by-floor) view of the house.
we need .obj files of the building (created through blender for the same).
Sir could you please help us with it. if you could just send us five such .obj files of different houses?
Very impressive. It's a little hard for a novice to follow, but impressive nonetheless.
G, Z.
He should screencast his keys for the nOObs
Is there a video about texturing it yet?
tip for watching video… put it in 2x speed… less boring to watch and you can still understand everything he says
I'm getting a weird shading effect about half way through the tutorial that I don't understand. Why is this happening, and is this something I should be worried about? http://i.imgur.com/xB9873d.png
Your doing a good job on blender, but thinking that you know door and window measurements is making me laugh.. You are good at the tutor part and blender, so keep up the good work, just dont build my house.. lol..
how do i measure in blender 2.7?because i can't find edge lenght
can you do a tutorial on texture mapping it
you would be perfect if you fucking told us every step you did instead of assuming we know every little annoying fucking button on here.
Compelete garbage if you are new to blender.
Here's a really stupid question: How do I make those measurement things like at 9:33?
Thank you for sharing..!!
How do I even cut out a frame from a template or photo to use it as a side of a vehicle?
well done
At one point in the video you claim that 0.25 feet is 2.5 inches.
your so lucky you know how to do this itd be soo cool to just like add my house an my nabers houses in to a game like outerra 😀
how do you put he image in the background?
Very hard….so…very very hard
Does anyone know how to get the dimensions showing on the model?
SPEEEEAAAK
Hey is it possible to post creations and what not from Blender and have other people import and export it? If so how do you do it?
