In this Blender 2.5 video tutorial we go through a fun modeling exercise by modeling a building from a single reference. Due to not have any head-on views of the building we model everything by eyeballing it, using some techniques to best approximate the actual dimensions. By the end of the tutorial we’re left with a model that could easily be used as a game asset or as a base for much more highly detailed building model.

  1. Love this video! Suggestion as I make videos too and I've noticed this among my viewers: it's easier to screencast your keys rather than say which key your pressing each time you press it. Don't get me wrong though, this is an awesome video!

  2. i think silo is the easiest 3d modeler. no switching from object to edit mode either. i hate that part. i wish blender would adapt silos modeling style, it so much faster , well for me anyway.

  3. Great Video! Don't get the people who complained about it being incomprehensable for newbies. You really have to read some basics, which would take you about an hour and then just play around and watch tutorials. If the tutor uses some plugin that shows you his keypresses its even better.
So thanks for this great video!

  4. I had a hard time following the instructions, all these keys and shortcuts are not helpful for us noobies. However, the video is very thorough in why do you do what you're doing. When I learn a bit more of the tools I'll follow your tutorials.

  5. sir,
we are preparing a project on augmented reality that would allow us to view a 3D house image and then further through animation we would also get the internal(floor-by-floor) view of the house.
we need .obj files of the building (created through blender for the same).
Sir could you please help us with it. if you could just send us five such .obj files of different houses?

  6. Your doing a good job on blender, but thinking that you know door and window measurements is making me laugh.. You are good at the tutor part and blender, so keep up the good work, just dont build my house.. lol..
