Photography Tips: Long Lens Landscape Photography

Landscape photography is done with a wide lens – not a Long Lens!

Why? I suggest Landscape photography can be done with any lens that will give the photographer the look they want to achieve.

Don’t get stuck by ‘rules’. Learn to think like a photographer and be creative.

  1. Very funny how things work out. I was out at sunset tonight doing landscape shots with the 70-200 & get home to the email with the link for this video. A long lens works brilliantly in this situation.

  2. Good information, Mike. I've always tried to get sharp focus front to back in landscape shots, but you showed me how that emphasis on the foreground sharpness looks great even as the background begins to blur. Thanks.

  3. Must have watched this video about 10 times! Definitely one of my favourites of yours Mike and one of my biggest inspirations to get into photography and vlogging! Love your creativity and enthusiasm!

  4. Cheers again Mike for another great video. Nikon 40 year old 300mm f4.5 ai-s manual focus just arrived today for my XT1/ via adapter, looking forward to trying it out, no handheld for this fella me-thinks.

  5. Another great video Mike! I have just purchase a used canon 70-200mm f4 lens so the tips you gave on using a long lens for landscapes will help me immensely. Love your videos, keep up the great work!

  6. Just found your channel and really enjoying all your videos. This one hits home because I just did a road trip through southwestern US (Death Valley etc) and all I had was a telephoto lens (55-300 on a crop sensor). I also had an iPhone, but it was an interesting challenge to get landscape shots (and even close shots like flowers) with the telephoto. Treat the landscape like a person, and it becomes more intimate…
