Hola everyone, lets learn how to create vector art with pen tool in Photoshop. The only difficult part about this effect is using pen tool and nothing else.
if you know how to fill colors with paint bucket you can do this effect, thats it, the most annoying this is that this method for cartoon effect is really flipping boring, nothing else… i mean creating vector art in general is pretty boring so….
That is all, rest of the info is in the tutorial, watch it and have fun.

I have decided to learn Photoshop because you can do a lot of nice things to pictures and draw amazing stuff and this video helped me a lot in my learning process. Thank you! Cheers from Philippines. ♥
You are correct… the technique is not easy but it does result in a final image that is pretty cool if you want to spend time doing it. I'm lazy and so I would have just cut out the portions of the image that I wanted to use by using area selection tool, redefine the edges and paste into a separate blank background document to build the image section by section for all final work. I would then use the magic wand to pick up greater hair detail and then copy+patse that into place on the separate document as well (no hair coloring needed cuz its already there). I would repeat this step until I have all elements. I would then use the pen tool to thicken the lines on the face to enhance the poster lines filter that I will use later on. I would then use the following filters: reduce noise, poster lines, and oil paint or I could layer paint daubs filter on top of the cutout filter and play around with the opacity to get that same cartoon effect. Next steps would be to add a few real details from the original photo like cheek/lip color (the cosmetics) using the clone stamp tool on the soft round setting and then the last steps would be to play around with color, light and shade as needed… total time about 1 hour or less. I do like your technique though as an intro for mastering vector art.
