using Maya 2019 got this error: An error occured: File extension rejected, not a recognized 3d model (please do not upload textures, there is no need to) All I did was try to export a primitive sphere. I didn't try doing anything crazy. saved as obj like you did.
Error: Conversion failed for all permutations. It is very likely that the problem is rooted at the input file(s) (either the format is not supported as advertised or the files were malformed). Please check back later – this service is constantly improving as bugs get fixed and new formats added.
how about correcting the normals AND making sure that all joins are connected to complete a manafold!!! this is two of the biggest issues when 3D printing and design!!!
for a 3d printing does your topology on the model need to be perfect? I mean if you have some tris here and there will it print normal or it will have issues?

There is an stl plug in in the plug in manager you can turn on so you can just export out as an stl and not have to convert it on any website.
